Spirit.157 As such they are one means by which the Spirit is already at work in the community. The second is not so obvious from the vision itself, but emerges clearly from the broader context. As we saw from the way the book starts, Zechariah associates his own ministry closely with that of the ‘earlier prophets’ (1:4; cf. 7:7). But the messages of these prophets were words ‘that the LORD Almighty had sent by his Spirit’ (7:12). So too, we are clearly meant to infer, were the words of Zechariah
